News from the Outlands

Hello and thank you to everyone who came to see us at AWA and Dragon*Con! I should have more pics posted here soon, but in the meantime, do check out our website [link] as we update that much more frequently.

Currently, we are working away at Netherworld, as the HAUNT SEASON IS UPON US. Hopefully we will have my new costume for that finished soon. I am excited.

Speaking of Netherworld and excitement, we got to see an advanced screening of Zombieland on Monday, a brief scene of which was filmed INSIDE Netherworld. The movie was EXCELLENT and HYSTERICAL. In addition to giving me an unnatural desire to consume Twinkies, it provided me with a heavy dose of the surreal as I got to see set pieces and animatronics that I helped work on featured in a major motion picture with WOODY, THE BARTENDER FROM CHEERS, HARRELSON and BILL, OH-MY-DEAR-SWEET-HOLY-FREAKING-CRAP, MURRAY! BILL MURRAY. AS HIMSELF. You must see this movie. Bill Murray's part is only a brief cameo, but it is absolutely hilarious nevertheless.

Hey guys!

All weekend: Outland Armour is table #5 in the Artists Alley.

Friday: The Aetheric Navy Grand Admiral's Ball - The Outlanders crew of the H.M.S. Amaranth will be in attendance at the ball from 8pm-midnight.

Saturday: Outland Armour Steampunk Costuming Panel - 4pm in the Kennesaw room

I'll post a bit about Dragon*Con when the madness has subsided a bit. Back to making guns!

Steampunk Star Wars Update

I've been up until dawn pretty much every day this week working away on Steampunk Boba Fett and Vader.

Fett Checklist GO!
Jet Pack nearly complete
Boot Spikes on one boot finished
Chest Plates cut out and heat formed
Gun stock planned out
Gauntlets planned out
Grappling hook ready
Scarf ready
Flight cap helmet liner ready

Still need to figure out the knee pads, gauntlets, belt pouches, tools, and get fabric. And finish sculpting the helmet. >_< Thankfully almost all of the planning is done, as that takes the most time. Once I figure things out, I can crank it out pretty quickly.

Vader is much simpler, but he is coming along nicely.

Diabolical Plans

Are unfurling as I type! I’ve just come out of the shop and am delighted with the new tools we’ve recently acquired. Thanks to them, we will soon be offering a wide selection of custom weapons with hand carved wooden stocks, similar to the ones you’ve seen us carrying. We will also be selling blank stocks devoid of any hardware to allow people to build their own instruments of destruction. Those will be available in either pre-stained and finished or plain varieties.

If you have a design for a custom gun stock, I can create nearly any shape. Please email me a drawing or other image reference at danny@outlandarmour.com and we can discuss pricing. The cost for each commission will vary depending on the complexity of the design.

AND a HUGE thanks to everyone who came to see us at Otakon! We were so delighted by the massive turnout! I was worried that not very many people would show up since it was early on Sunday and not in the main convention center, but we had around 400 people! Absolutely packed to capacity! I was quite sad that they had to turn so many others away once the room filled up, but those darn fire marshals don’t joke around. About anything. EVER. But that is a story for another time. LOL

Anyway, we had a great time at Otakon. WE LOVE IT SO. The crowd is always excellent and Baltimore is a dirty crazy town, which has a special place in my blackened pirate heart. We are hoping to have all of our crew there next year which will of course enable us to put on an even better show. Hopefully we will also have a larger room for the panel as well, so that everyone who wishes to will be able to attend!

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at Dragon*Con!

So after much trepidation, we've finally managed to square away our arrangements for Otakon this weekend!

Well be at our table in the artist alley, where we will have various goodies for sale. We are also hosting the Steampunk Fashion and Gadgetry panel.

I still have a few things to fix up for my Alucard costume, which is making its comeback appearance!
